New Additions
Hello! Just as W&L’s 497 newest students are settling into campus this week, I’m settling in to my new job as one of the two newest additions to the W&L Admissions Office. Well, to be honest, I have had a little more time to settle in. After graduating from W&L this past May with majors in Politics and History I joined the Admissions Office in July, and I have been busy learning the ropes of being an admissions counselor ever since. In the past two months I have learned how to conduct information sessions, interview prospective students, and find my way around the office.
What next for me? Well that would be the age old admissions counselor rite of passage—travel. The rest of the office and I will be hitting the road in the coming weeks traveling to see you in your local high schools, and also hosting evening gatherings in cities across the country. Look out for email and snail mail invitations to events near you throughout the fall. Hopefully my colleagues and I will get a chance to meet many of you in our travels this year. Personally, I can’t wait to hit the road this fall as sharing my love of W&L with prospective students is one of my favorite things about my job. After a brief stop in Richmond with Jenny Ratzel at the end of this week I’m off on my own to Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky next week. Wish me luck and maybe I’ll get a chance to see you while I’m on the road this year. Also, don’t forget about W&L’s other new additions. Make sure to check out some cool photos of First-Year Orientation this week.
